I’m Lynn Munnerlyn "The UGLY Duckling"

 

I am the voice and the Creator of The U.G.L.Y. Brand. What started as a journey to kill my personal demons of insecurities and low self-esteem quickly transformed into a place of healing and growth through my own revelation of the word U.G.L.Y.

 

Flat chested, your forehead is big, your teeth are bucked, you’re skinny, your fat, you’re too tall, and you’re short these are some of the things that I heard as a child and perhaps you have heard them as well.

 

Am I good enough, it’s too late, my life is over these thoughts caused me to feel inadequate, ashamed, and caused insecurities to rise and be the lie, I lived for many years.

 

Early in my career as a pre-school teacher, I remember reading a nursery rhyme book to my students entitled "The UGLY Duckling" while reading this book I fought back tears, I realized that, what I was reading had been my life story.

 

In that moment I heard a quiet still voice say, “you’re not U.G.L.Y.”, you’ve gotta learn to love yourself. This is the place where "The U.G.L.Y. Duckling Brand" begun.

 

The U.G.L.Y. brand is not only about cosmetics and clothing the brand is about empowering all people to recognize that their true beauty rests in being U.G.L.Y.

 

Apart of my vision is to change the perception of the word U.G.L.Y. a word that in many ways has taunted the lives of so many in our society today. Who has the authority to determine your beauty? The simple answer is “YOU DO”

 

Your true beauty speaks loudly when you embrace the fact that you’re U.G.L.Y.
